一 |     PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Pakistan security forces killed six militants and wounded eight others in a shootout during an overnight raid in the country’s northwest, the military said Sunday. Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Mir Ali area of the North Waziristan District when they exchanged fire with militants, the military said. One soldier also died and troops recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants’ hideout. North Waziristan had served for decades as a safe haven for militants until the military carried out a major operation after an attack on an army-run school in Peshawar in 2014 killed more than 150 people, mostly schoolchildren. After the yearslong operation, the army announced it had cleared the region of local and foreign militants. Occasional attacks have continued, however, raising concerns that the local Taliban, known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, found sanctuaries in Afghanistan and are regrouping in the area.The Pakistani Taliban are a separate group but allies of the Afghan Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan in 2021 as the U.S. and NATO troops were in the final stages of their pullout after 20 years of war.。    New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) India recorded 2,424 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total active cases to 28,079 as per the Health Ministry data on Monday.

As many as 3 fresh fatalities were reported, taking the toll to 5,28,814

A total of 2,923 patients recovered, taking total recoveries to 4,40,57,544.



The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, whereas the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.

According to the bulletin, 89.71 tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 91,458 tests have been conducted.

'India has administered 218.99 crore doses (94.90 crore second dose and 21.59 crore precaution dose) of Covid-19 vaccine, so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination " Ministry data said.
